Hi! My name is Jake Griffith, and I am an actor, comedian, and creative technologist currently based in New York City. I am also currently receiving my MFA in Acting from Columbia University and working as an Associate Artist with Columbia's Digital Storytelling Lab.
I'm a storyteller at heart, moving from medium to medium to find which one best tells the story. Whether I'm performing on stage, writing for the page, or building interactive digital experiences, I'm invested in learning and building on storytelling traditions from the past while finding the way to the future. I'm interested in engaging audiences and creating social and active stories that live in the modern world.
Originally from South Carolina, I grew up performing theatre in community theaters across the upstate. In high school, I attended South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities. For undergrad, I moved to Minneapolis to attend the University of Minnesota / Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program, where I took up a minor in Creative Writing and my writing journey began. I also spent a semester training at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Education in London. After graduating in the spring of 2022, I stayed in Minneapolis for six months working with a variety of theaters.
In January of 2023, I moved to New York City where I explored the comedy scene and developed a personal artistry built around storytelling. In NYC, I wrote, developed, and premiered my first solo show, Ripstickin' & Burpin', at Brooklyn Comedy Collective.
In Fall of 2023, I moved to Chicago. I fell in love with the city almost immediately, and I was able to continue to hone my artistry by acting, writing, and performing comedy with a large variety of theaters and comedy groups. During my time in Chicago, I performed in four sketch shows at The Second City, including my own show 98% Boy 2% Milk. I also performed Ripstickin' & Burpin' at The Second City's Blackout Cabaret Theatre and Upright Citizens Brigade NYC. Additionally, I participated in Jackalope Theatre Company's Playwrights Lab residency, where I developed my full-length play Angels Falling. In Chicago, I also founded The Shop, a community organizing company that connected over 100 theater professionals through free workshops and artist salons.
I relocated back to New York City in Fall 2025 to continue my artistic journey as an MFA Acting Student at Columbia University. Most recently, I've been creating interactive digital artifacts and performances with Columbia's Digital Storytelling Lab, premiering work at Lincoln Center and Museum of the Moving Image. My sketch show 98% Boy 2% Milk made its Off-Broadway debut at Emerging Artists Theatre in September 2025, and I performed at the Moth Radio Hour GrandSLAM at the Athenaeum Center in October 2025.
